Youth Summit presenters being sought

Presenters are being sought to participate in the fifth annual Northwest Regional Youth Summit entitled, "Community Unity Begins with U" to be held March 16-17 at the Quality Inn in Clarkston, WA.

Sponsored by the Lewis-Clark Coalition for Families and Youth, the conference will include topics such as:

  • Suicide Prevention
  • Cutting and Self-Mutilation
  • Harassment & Safety
  • Drug and Alcohol Use and Prevention
  • Confidence & Self-Esteem
  • Diversity
  • Community
  • Youth Employment
  • Abstinence

Organizers are expecting 200-300 participants from around north central Idaho and eastern Washington. Up to half of the participants will be junior high and high school students. The other half will be adult, mostly from North Central Idaho and South Eastern Washington.

All presenters will be scholarshipped. They are usually able to pay for presenters expenses. Presentations should be either 50 or 110 minutes. Preference will be given to presentations which are interactive and at least partially activity based. This summit has grown in size and overall quality year after year. This next year’s will be the best yet.

Those who would like to be presenters are asked to send their topic, outline, and outcomes along with a brief synopsis to Pete Petersen, Idaho Department of Health and Welfare, P.O. Drawer B/1118 F. St., Lewiston, ID 83501. Potential presenters should include a copy of their resume or vitae and two references for their presentation. A video of the presentation is optional. Packets must be received by 5 p.m. Dec. 5, 2005.
