Vivian Sue Young, 54, Orofino

Vivian Sue Young of Orofino passed away Jan. 8, 2006 at St. Joseph Regional Medical Center, in Lewiston. She was 54.

She was born to Raymond and Miriam Garst on Nov. 23, 1951 in Troy, OH, where she grew up. Vivian married Jeffery A. Young on Sept. 29, 1973 in North Manchester, IN. She graduated with a B.S. in psychology at Manchester College in North Manchester, IN. Vivian and Jeffery moved to Clearwater County in 1976. She then received a B.S. in education from Lewis Clark State College in Lewiston. Vivian was a special education school teacher in Weippe from 1982 to 1984, Orofino Junior High from 1985 to 1997, Orofino Elementary School from 1997 to 2004, and Centennial Elementary School in Lewiston from 2004 to present.

Vivian was a very compassionate individual. She was a dedicated mother who always supported her children. She was very spiritual and would always look for the greatness of God in everyday life. Vivian would do all that she could to help a friend or loved one. She loved to laugh and spend time with her family. In her free time you could often find her playing with her dog Emmy and taking on extra projects to improve the education of the children she taught.

Vivian was preceded in death by her father Raymond Garst.

She is survived by her husband, Jeffery A. Young of Orofino; her mother, Miriam Garst of Troy, OH; her son, Samuel R. Young of Boise; her daughter, Joanna M. Young of Seattle, WA; her sisters, Marsha Jenson of Anchorage, AK, Beth Kinsel of Beavercreek, OH, and Virginia Vance of Huber Heights, OH.

Cremation has taken place and there will be a memorial service held Friday, Jan. 13 at 2:30 p.m. at the United Methodist Church in Orofino.

Pine Hills Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
