Dear Editor: I'm not sure if any of you know but Dayton, WA is my hometown. My folks still live there and I have a deep connection with many classmates and friends there still. I thought I would pass on to you about the need for supplies in Dayton for the firefighters. My parents are very active in the community and recently spoke to Jennie Dickinson, the Chamber Director, and she said "with Dayton getting hit with the School Fire last year and now the Columbia Complex Fire the resources are very slim." I passed this on to Heather Burnham (Orofino Chamber of Commerce director) in hopes that (God forbid) a situation like this happened in Orofino the folks in town would appreciate the help from their counterparts in other areas. Below I have copied from the Dayton Chamber of Commerce web site www.historicdayton.com a request for supplies. The Dayton Fire Fighters Association needs more help! They asked me to express their thanks for the pop and non-perishable snacks. They have been a big help to the crew and they have ample supply of those items for now. They are in need of the following:
They also can use more monetary donations. When I spoke to Heather I told her that if she would accept donations I would take them to Dayton. I hope you can share this information through your media venues so Dayton can and will be appreciative of our giving. Thanks and if you have any questions please give me a call.
