Construction industry had a strong month in September Idaho's construction industry registered another strong month in September 2005, according to Dr. Kelly K. Matthews, economist with Wells Fargo. According to the report, Orofino issued 12 permits during the month of September 2005 for additions, alterations and repairs with a total value of $89,290 in construction. There were no permits for new residential or nonresidential units. That compares to 12 permits issued in September 2004 with a total value of $95,000. One of those permits was for a new single-family dwelling unit valued at $46,900. The remainder were additions, alterations and repairs valued at $48,100. During the first nine months of 2005, Orofino issued 69 permits with a total value of $1,584,806. In that total were three new single-family dwelling units with a total value of $282,335. New nonresidential construction totaled $894,912. Additions, alterations and repairs totaled $407,559 in value, the report said. During the first nine months of 2004, 94 permits were issued with a total value of $2,846,448. There were three permits for three new single-family dwelling units with a total value of $189,900. Nonresidential construction had a total value of $2,056,000. Additions, alterations and repairs had a total value of $600,548. Although it did not achieve another new record construction in the state continued the growth trend seen throughout 2005. Total valuations during September were the third highest ever up 10.4 percent to reach $377.9 million, Matthews said. In addition, 1,721 new dwelling units were permitted-the second highest monthly number ever.
