Hemlock Butte Lookout is the answer for Week 397 of Orofino History Trivia a special feature to celebrate the history and heritage of Clearwater Country.

Monday: Developed in 1921

Tuesday: At elevation 6,053 feet

Wednesday: Eight miles east of Pierce

Hemlock Butte Lookout was developed in 1921 with a cupola cabin and 50-foot pole tower. It was replaced with a 50-foot pole tower and L-4 cab in 1934. The present 53-foot treated timber tower with L-4 cab was built in 1954. The lookout is staffed in the summer.

It is located eight miles east of Pierce at elevation 6,053 feet.
