Musselshell Creek rises 5 miles southeast of Pierce in Clearwater County. It flows 10 miles before going into Lolo Creek which then flows into the Clearwater River drainage.
It was originally named in Nez Perce for the mussels that are found there. The name was later translated into English and that is what lasted.
