Charles and Katherine Dent homesteaded property on the west end of what is now Dent Bridge in 1895. The provided lodging for at Traveler's Rest and had a post office that they ran. Their name lives on in Dent Bridge the suspension Bridge built across Dworshak Reservoir to provide a connection between Orofino and the uppper country, including Elk River; Dent Acres Campground and Dent Bridge Rd.
