Elk Creek Falls has a number trails that traverse the area, some that go along historic wagon roads through the forest and some that pass by the site of a historic school. Various trails go to the three falls which are especially spectacular in May when they are roaring with spring run off and the woods are erupting with blooming violets, calypso orchids, amicas and anemones.

Lower Elk Creek Falls drops 50 feet into a narrow basalt gorge below an open hillside. Twisting Middle Creek Falls descends 70 feet down a rock face into a lower canyon and Upper Elk Creek Falls is the shortest at 20 feet.
