Woman injured in snowmobile accident

A Spokane Valley, WA woman was injured in a snowmobiling accident while recreating in the backcountry near Grandad Bridge Saturday, Feb. 18, according to information from Clearwater County Sheriff's Department.

CCSO Officers Byron Ellsworth and Ben Salisbury responded from Elk River, assessed the situation and provided initial care for the injured woman, Kathy Tabbert. Elk River EMTs (Emergency Medical Technicians) Leroy Sims and Hud McCartney followed shortly after to provide care, according to a letter from her husband, Tom Tabbert.

Tabbert was flown by Medstar helicopter to St. Joseph Regional Medical Center. She had severe abdominal injuries.
