Clearwater Quilters show their art This the Selway-Bitterroot Wilderness Celebration quilt done by quilters from Orofino, Kamiah and Missoula, MT. It will be on display at the National Quilt Show in Houston, TX. Then be displayed in other states before going to its permanent home at the Powell Ranger Station. Anita Brumley (left) and Donna Cunningham are among those who worked on the quilt. They are pointing to the blocks they did. Judy Stone (left) made this mariner quilt she has entitled "Blue Galaxy". The border design "Monkey Wrenches" came from a 1940s pattern book. Quilt Show Co-Chair Ruth Brown made this quilt that showcases geometric patterns and building scapes. Quilt Show Co-Chair Jan Trisler received this quilt as a gift for her wedding in 1999. It was made from her mother's handkerchiefs and has soft, subtle colors typical of an old-fashioned, hand quilted creation. Anita Brumley created this quilt with deep purples, blues and greens as background for the moose and trees. She hand-dyed part of the fabrics she used. To the left is a display of decorative pincushions. The photo at right is Pam Beeson-Jones working on a new quilt. She has been quilting for about 15 years and particularly the last 10. She now lives in Lewiston, but grew up in Orofino. Her various quilting projects represent such themes as holidays and vacations. |
