The Orofino High School Boys Varsity Basketball team had no trouble beating the Clearwater Valley Rams in action Thursday night at home.

In the beginning, the game was very high paced, a style that CVHS likes to use. Both teams had very good defenses out of the gates. Because of this the Maniacs were not allowing the Rams any inside shots. With the likes of DJ Wright and other teammates, they were getting their hands up and denying a lot of CVHS's shots all night. Halftime score was Orofino 23 and CVH 19.

That was the end of CVHS's chances to win as the Maniacs came out of the lockers at halftime with a full head of steam and CVHS forgot to stoke the stove. The Maniacs were able to get a lot of fast breaks and easily ran over the Rams defense and offense. The final for this one was Orofino 50 CVHS 36.

Wayde Garland was top scorer with 16 and Brad Popoff followed with 9. The team shot 48 per cent from the field and 75 per cent from the free throw line.

Their next game is at home against the St. Maries Lumberjacks on Saturday, Feb. 4. Game time is at 7:30 p.m.
