In a wild game Thursday night in Orofino, the Kubs of Kamiah High School pulled off a win over the Orofino High School Varsity Basketball team.

Orofino was without the services of Wayde Garland and Ben Hosley due to a two week suspension. The first half was controlled by defense on both teams so it was a very low scoring game. Each team controlled the boards on the opposite end of the courts but could not control their own. Two technical fouls were called with less than a minute left in the first half, the first, because a player from Kamiah came onto the floor without prior approval from the official, a rule that is in the book but seldom called in this area. The second technical was called on an Orofino player because in an attempt to miss a Kamiah player, the Orofino player went over the top of the Kamiah player. The technical was called as seen as a flagrant foul. It certainly changed the flavor of the game because not everyone understood the calls that were being made by the officials which created confusion on both teams. Halftime score was Orofino 10 Kamiah 16.

In the second half, Orofino lost control of the boards and could not make their shots. Coach Ryan Ball of Kamiah had done his homework on Orofino's three point shots and did not allow them to happen last night. DJ Wright was the only team member that made a three pointer and that was only allowed once.

In the end, Orofino shot 44 percent from the field and 56 percent shots from the free throw line. Jerrod Portman was top scorer with 10 for the Maniacs. Wright and Jarrod Mangum helped with five points a piece. Final for this one was Kamiah 41 Orofino 21.

Next game for the Maniacs is Jan. 24 at Nezperce. Only the varsity is playing that night. Game time is 7:30 p.m.
