Orofino Ladies take on Lady Loggers

Tuesday night was filled with a lot of excitement at the Orofino High School gymnasium as the Orofino Lady Maniacs took on the Potlatch Loggers in volleyball action.

Game one saw the Lady Maniacs taking charge and never looking back. It was a great team effort.

Game two was just the opposite as the Lady Maniacs became a little complacent, that turned to fear as the Lady Loggers took control of the game. The score was 14-8 when Coach Julie Roby called time out. Orofino came out of the timeout and fought hard to get back but to no avail as Potlatch came out the winner by the score of 25-21.

Both teams were very evenly matched during the third game which made it very exciting for the team as well as the crowd. Orofino came out on top of this one by the score of 25-21.

In the final game of the best of five, the Lady Maniacs were in control but the Lady Loggers were not ready to give up as they kept fighting back. Time out was called when Orofino was leading 18-14, then 22-15. Capri Savage came in to finish the Loggers off in three serves for a final of 25-15.

Coach Julie Roby said after the match that her team was serving very strong with 94 percent serves. Capri Savage had 10 aces; Jessica Roby had 9 aces, 12 kills and 14 digs. Ellen Rouse also had a good night with 9 digs.

Next match is Saturday Sept. 17 at the Lapwai Tournament.
