In the first quarter of action, both junior varsity teams showed a lot of offensive and defensive skills. Neither team seemed to find the basket though. The Rams from CVHS used a full court press that gave the Maniacs trouble handling the ball.

The scores started to happen in the second period of play as both teams started to settle down a little. CVHS had the advantage at the foul line and were making most of their free throws. Half time score Orofino 21 Clearwater Valley High 18.

Each of the quarters the teams on the court kept improving their skills. By the fourth period, this turned out to be quite a game. The Rams quit the full court press in the third period. OHS got a lot of fast breaks and took advantage of them in the third and fourth quarters. CVHS tried to disrupt the Maniac offense with double coverage. This became a tight ball game, but Orofino came out on top with the final of Orofino 47 CVH 44.

Zac Goodrich was top scorer for the Maniacs with 14 points and Dylan Midstokke had 12 points. The team shot 61 percent from the field and 75 percent from the free throw line.

Their next game will be played at home against the St Maries Lumberjacks on Saturday, Feb. 4. Game time is 6 p.m.
