OHS names valedictorians, salutatorian

Four young women have been named as the valedictorians and salutatorian for the Graduating Class of 2006 at Orofino High School.

Graduation will be held Saturday, May 27, at 8 p.m. at OHS. Seventy-seven young men and women are scheduled to graduate during the ceremonies. Valedictorians are Amanda Giese, Sara Holland and Lisa Huffman. Crystal Cunningham is the Salutatorian.

The class motto is, "We met as strangers, grew as classmates and leave as friends."

Valedictorian Amanda Giese is the daughter of Carolyn Giese and the late Lance Giese. She has attended OHS during her junior and senior years. After graduation, she plans to attend Seattle University. Though she is undecided on a major, she Giese would like to join the Peace Corps and work in South America. She chose that area because it looks interesting to her and she wants to see something new.

Giese said she has learned that, "If you find something interesting about a class is it is easier and more fun." Her role model in teacher Cindy Wilson, because she is always happy and energetic. "She gets everybody excited and her energy rubs off on other people."

Valedictorian Sara Holland is the daughter of David and Penny Holland. She has attended schools in the district since kindergarten. After graduation she plans to attend Idaho State University and be involved in the pre-med program.

Holland said has learned, "Not lose your sense of wonder."

Valedictorian Lisa Huffman is the daughter of Doug and Julie Huffman. She has attended schools in the district since kindergarten. After graduation, she plans to attend University of Idaho and major in bioengineering.

She has learned, "Don't let life get you down. Always be happy." Her role model is Mrs. Rhodes because she is always on top of things, knows what she wants and gets it.

Salutatorian Crystal Cunningham is the daughter of John and Bobbie Cunningham. She plans to attend Lewis Clark State College after high school graduation. She is going to study accounting and either become a bookkeeper or CPA.

She has learned that there will always be times to stick up and endure and always be times for fun. Her dad is her role model, because she feels he has always been there for her and helped her out.
