Maniac Varsity defeats CVHS The Orofino High School Varsity Boys Baseball team had no trouble taking care of Clearwater Valley High School at home Tuesday night. Pitcher Sean Diffen struck out six players and gave up no walks in the game. Due to errors on the Maniac side, the game was kept close in the first and third inning. Luckily for the Maniacs, CVHS made two critical errors in the fourth and Lucas Rouse hit a two run double. In the fifth inning, the bases loaded, Robert Davis hit a base load single. However, with the error of the right fielder, the Maniacs were able to score three runs. With two strikes under his belt, Jarrod Mangum swung and missed the third strike. The catcher could not handle the ball so Mangum got on first base. As he went to steal second, the pitcher threw the ball to second. The second base player could not handle the pitch so Robert Davis stole home plate. This added up to the 10 run rule with Orofino beating CVHS with a score off 12 to 2. Robert Davis led the Maniacs in the hitting department with two hits and five runs batted in. Next game will be here at Orofino as the Maniacs host another weekend tournament. Game time is 1 p.m. |
