Clearwater Human Needs Council forming

Clearwater County is a caring place with a variety of organizations and individuals that work to assist people. Clearwater Human Needs Council is being created to provide a forum for those organizations.

The first meeting will be held Tuesday, Feb. 21, at noon at Krystal Cafe'.

Clearwater Human Needs Council will focus specifically on providing direct services of a helping nature to people in all of Clearwater County such as housing, transportation, employment, food, business services, medical and mental health concerns, children's issues, etc. Public, private and faith-based service providers, service clubs and others that have an interest in being involved are invited to participate.

Clearwater Human Needs Council will meet once each month, except for the months that "Good Morning Orofino" is scheduled (everybody needs a break). This will be a time when service providers can meet to introduce their programs and/or discuss updated information that public service providers receive frequently. There will be opportunities to learn how the various programs and services can complement each other and help their respective clients.

The format will be similar to "Good Morning Orofino" where everyone present will have a brief time to discuss their program. Mayors Joe Pippenger, Norm Steadman and Wally Williams, as well as Clearwater County Commissioners, have been invited to add to the discussion on helping citizens.

The first meeting may be a little longer than subsequent meetings so participants can share the vision, goals and develop a concept for the council that works for everyone involved.

Please share this information with any service providers or individuals who may also be interested. Those who plan to attend are asked to contact Maria Ward so time and location arrangements can be made accordingly. Please call 476-5771 or email wardm@idhw.state.id.us.
