Second game of doubleheader a squeaker

by Mike Butler

In game two of the baseball action held at Orofino High School ball field, it was an entirely different situation than the first between the Orofino Merchants and the Pullman Posse.

Kelby Enevold did an outstanding job for the Merchants on the mound and only allowed two hits from the Pullman bench. However, Pullman also returned the favor by only allowing two hits from Orofino's bench.

Orofino got their first run in the bottom of the third with the bases loaded and Sean Diffen walking. That allowed Lucas Rouse to come home. Then with a double play by Pullman's defense that ended the inning. Pullman then scored their first run of the game in the top of the fourth due on an error throw to third base allowing their runner to come home.

That was the end of the scoring for both teams until the bottom of the seventh inning. Ben Hosley gets on base with a walk. Rouse and Mike Poppe hit sacrifice balls to advance Hosley to third base. Then with a wild pitch from the mound, Hosley was able to steal home plate for the winning run of the game. Final score Orofino 2 Pullman 1.

Orofino R 2 H 2 E 1
Pullman R 1 H 2 E 2
