Mallard/Cook Ranch areas residents asked to leave immediately A Stage 3 Evacuation Request has been issued by the Idaho County Sheriff's Office for Mallard/Cook Ranch areas due to the current fire activity on the McGuire Fire Complex and residents are asked to leave immediately. As the fire is moving north and northeast in the area south of Moose Butte Creek, a temporary closure of County Road 222 from Trapper Creek to the community of Dixie is now in effect. Additionally an Emergency Closure is in place for Forest Road 1190 and Road 421 at Trapper Creek. ![]() This is the most current map available of the McGuire Fire two miles west of Dixie from 6 a.m. Friday, Sept. 14. The complex consists of the McGuire, Bagley and Herman wildland fires, which all started with lightning strikes Aug. 27. The McGuire Fire combined with the Bagley Fire and the Herman is at two acres and smoldering in the Gospel Hump Wilderness. The McGuire Fire is now over 26,884 acres. Stage 3 Evacuation Request were issued for Orogrande Aug. 28 and for the Dixie/Comstock area Sept. 3. Carlton Joseph, California Interagency Incident Management Team 5 are managing the fire fighting efforts. The Incident Command Post (ICP) is located at the old Red River Ranger Station, with fire camp located in the York field at Red River. Local residents and public concerned about the McGuire Fire Complex are encouraged to call the public information line at 208-842-2725.
