Carolyn J. McCall, 69, Orofino Carolyn Janet McCall, 69, of Orofino, died from cancer Saturday, June 17, 2006, at Clearwater Valley Hospital in Orofino. She was born March 25, 1937, to Cecil and Alice Dewberry Ross at Covington, Ky. The family moved to Phoenix where she graduated from Scottsdale High School May 26, 1955. Carolyn married James (Bill) Waggoner Oct. 15, 1955. They were divorced in 1968. In the mid 1960s she moved to Barstow, CA. She married James (Jim) H. McCall July 4, 1970. In 1972 they moved to McCall where they owned the radio station KMCL. She joined the Forest Service in McCall in 1988 and transferred to Groveland, CA, in 1991 and to Crescent City to the Smith River National Forest in 1996 as the public affairs officer. She transferred her federal service to the Redwood National and State Parks in Crescent City in October 1999 and retired in June 2003. The couple moved to Orofino in January 2004 to be close to their children. She enjoyed flower gardening, decorating for holidays, playing monopoly with her grandchildren and other card and board games with family. She also enjoyed caring for their two long-haired Chihuahuas, Bonita and Chiquita and their cat, Mooie. Carolyn was a past officer of the Crescent City-Del Norte County Chamber of Commerce and past president of the Groveland Rotary Club. She is survived by her husband, Jim H. McCall of Orofino; daughters, Jennefer and Rick Parker of Orofino and Sue and Lynn Rasberry of Sacramento, CA; son, Shane and Kim McCall of Boise; stepson, Roger and Peggy McCall of Sandpoint; grandchildren, Chad and Erin Sundberg of Orofino, Dale McCall of Sandpoint and Kade and Lauren McCall of Boise; sister, Helen and Lew Reams of Murrietta, CA; brother, Don and Carol Ross of Phoenix, AZ; cousin, Ken and Diane Dewberry of Cold Springs, KY; and numerous nieces and nephews in California and Arizona. She was preceded in death by her parents and stepdaughter, Michelle McCall. Her remains will be placed at the Craigmont Cemetery at a private, family service at a later date. A memorial reception for friends and family will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at the McCall residence, 330 126th St. in Orofino.
