Jurors hear second day of testimony

Jurors in the Robert Scott Lippert trial heard their second day of testimony today before District Judge Carl Kerrick adjourned court at nearly 3 p.m.

Lippert, 64, was arrested July 9, 2005 on a felony charge of sexual abuse of a child under 16 years of age. The charge stems from allegations that he abused one of his daughters at their home at 2988 Rudo Rd. in 1998 when she was 15 years old. According to Clearwater County Sheriff's Detective Becky Drewery, the allegations came to light in September 2004 when the young woman contacted authorities. The alleged victim and three of her sisters have testified during the trial.

Monday was spent in jury selection. Clearwater County Prosecutor Lorie Gilmore presented her witnesses Tuesday and today testimony was primarily in defense and rebuttal. From listening to the objections of Defense Attorney Jack Hathaway, evidence and testimony that is being admitted is obviously restricted to certain areas.

Kerrick said court would reconvene Thursday morning at 9 and begin with instructions to the jury before closing statements from Gilmore and Hathaway. Following those statements, the jury will begin their deliberation.
