Drivers advised to expect delays on U.S. 12 Friday night

Motorists who plan to use U.S. Highway 12 are being advised to anticipate delays Friday night, March 1, while an over-length shipment travels on the highway, the Idaho Transportation Department announced Friday afternoon.

Mullen Trucking plans to move a shipment Friday night that will travel westbound on U.S. 12 and enter Idaho from Montana. It weighs 177,500 pounds, is 129 feet long, 16 feet wide and 16.3 feet tall. The load, allowed to travel between 10 p.m. and 5 a.m., March 2, will move as long as weather and road conditions are favorable.

The shipment will be accompanied by three flagging teams and escort vehicles to alert other drivers of the load. Turnouts have been identified that can be used by the shipment to limit delays for other drivers on U.S. 12 to 15 minutes.
