Over-length load to travel U.S. 12 Thursday evening through early Friday

BOISE - Motorists traveling on U.S. Highway 95 and U.S. Highway 12 late Thursday evening through early Friday morning could experience delays of up to 15 minutes as an over-length truck travels the highways, the Idaho Transportation Department this evening.

The truck will travel from the Port of Lewiston to the Montana border from 10 p.m. to 5:30 a.m., weather permitting. The truck and its cargo, a generator skid, weigh 242,800 pounds, are 16.4 feet tall, 15 feet wide and 163 feet long.

The truck will require both lanes of U.S. 12 to travel around corners, with one delay for vehicles using U.S. 95 close to the Spalding Bridge. It will be accompanied by three flagging teams, three pilot cars and two vehicles with sign boards alerting traffic to the shipment.

Mullen Trucking LP is the contract hauler. The same load had been scheduled to move in December 2012, but was prevented by weather conditions.
