Inmate dies at Idaho State Correctional Institution

BOISE-An inmate committed suicide at the Idaho State Correctional Institution Thursday afternoon, according to a news releasefrom the Idaho Department of Corrections.

Sam F. Rodasta, 35 was serving a four-year sentence on an escape conviction out of Jerome County, the release said.

A correctional officer found Rodasta at 2:06 p.m. Prison medical staff was called immediately and on site within three minutes. An ambulance was also called. Rodasta was declared dead at 2:56 p.m. He was found hanging in his cell, IDOC added.

Ada County detectives and the Ada County Coroner investigated, as is standard procedure.
