IDFG seeking input on 2007-2011 Fisheries Management Plan

LEWISTON-The Idaho Department of Fish and Game's statewide Fisheries Management Plan is up for renewal this year, and the public is invited to help craft the plan that will chart fish management in Idaho from 2007 through 2012.

Various long-term strategies and objectives for programs, such as native fish management, hatchery fish, family fishing waters, fishing access and warm water fish management are included in the plan.

Anglers can review the existing plan and provide their comments on-line through the department's web site at http://fishandgame.idaho.gov or by attending a public open house scheduled May 18 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. and May 19 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Clearwater Region Office, 3316 16th St. in Lewiston. Fisheries staff will be available to answer questions and discuss new ideas.

"We rely significantly on feedback from our angling public to provide us with direction on how to manage Idaho's tremendous fishery resources," said Ed Schriever, regional fishery manager. "Anglers are encouraged to review the current plan and provide us with their comments on how they would us to manage their fisheries into the future."

Written comments can be submitted to Fish and Game at the following address: Idaho Department of Fish and Game, Attn: Scott Grunder, P.O. Box 25, Boise, ID 83707; or by email to sgrunder@idfg.idaho.gov.
