Harvest Moon Birthday Party to feature historical photos

This year's Harvest Moon Cruise scheduled Nov. 12 will feature approximately 50 large black and white photographs from Orofino's past.

The photos will be on display in the entry foyer and the buffet room during the Clearwater Valley Hospital Foundation event. The 11" x 17" photos will be on sale for $30 with proceeds benefiting both the hospital and the Clearwater Historical Museum. The pictures complement the ninth annual event's theme, Orofino's 100th Birthday Bash.

"We've selected photographs that depict Orofino's heritage," said Bernice Pullen, Museum Director. "They will be fun for party goers to look at and would make great Christmas gifts."

The prints can be ordered that evening. They will also be available at Clearwater Valley Hospital's Physical Therapy Clinic during the Christmas festival and after the tree lighting on Nov. 18 and 19th. The Clearwater Valley Hospital and Clinics Auxiliary will also sell them at their Patchwork Bazaar Booth on Saturday, Dec. 3.

The photos include pictures of Orofino's main street, its first school, the ferry, the early hospital, city hall, Orofino's 1863 flood, C-PTPA's first headquarters, the railroad trestle, an early fire station, an aerial view of the town, various logging and mining photos and many more.

The 'friendraiser' will also feature a Funny Money Casino, a buffet, no host bars, an 'all Orofino Revue' floor show and dancing to the live music of Centerline, formerly the Selway Cruisers.

"We've expanded the parking area that will be convenient to the Armory. We have a bunch of surprises in store, too," said Jeanette Gorman, CVHC Community Relations Coordinator. "We usually have over 350 guests for the annual event which really has something for everyone. Some people come to dance, some to play in the casino, some for the floor show and everyone comes to have fun and support the hospital. It's an open invitation to the community to attend Orofino's 100th birthday party. I can't think of a better way to celebrate!"

Tickets are $25 per person or $45 per couple in advance. They are an additional ten dollars when purchased that evening. Reserved tables for six or ten can also be purchased for an additional tax deductible donation. Phone reservations for tickets and tables can be made by calling CVH, 476-4555 ext 8073.
