Steelhead Catch and Keep season opens Saturday

With steelhead Catch and Keep season opening Saturday the prospects are looking good for anglers.

According to Evelyn Kaide of the Guide Shop, there are fish all through the Clearwater River system. Plugs are working really well. The favorite colors are blue and green. Favorites for bobber and jig anglers are pinks and reds and blacks.

Fly fishermen are picking up a few with After Dinner Mints, October Catis and Purple Perils.

The fish counts at present are ahead of the 10 year average, Kaide said. She expects the fishing to be as good or better than last year. The steelhead are really bright. Fish are being caught with a few of those being B-run.
