Fire fighters train for interface fires

Teaching rural and municipal fire fighters to defend structures in an urban interface fires is the purpose of a course now being offered to departments in the Clearwater area.

Entitled, "Wildland/Urban Interface Fire Fighting for the Structural Officer", the course teaches safety principals for fires in the interface between residences and wildlands. It will also teach which structures are defendable and which are not.

Departments represented at this training include: Orofino, Sunnyside, Twin Ridge, Evergreen, Grangemont and Harpster.

Those who complete all the classes will receive a certificate of completion from Lewis Clark State College.

This and other training sessions are scheduled during the winter months of January, February and March. They are open to any fire department in the area.
