Support Orofino's fire fighters

Support Orofino's volunteer Fire Department by purchasing tickets to their annual ball Saturday, April 22, from 8 p.m. to midnight at the Veterans of Foreign Wars building on Michigan Ave.

Orofino's volunteer fire fighters work hard not only to put fires out and help with extrication and traffic control at accident scene, but also at raising funds for a variety of equipment they need including the wildland fire brush truck above. Truck 59 went into service last week. The used truck was purchased with funds from past Firemen's Balls, Firemen's Breakfasts during Lumberjack Days and other events. No taxes were used for its purchase. The volunteers also outfitted the truck. Truck 59 will be housed at Station 2 and has a 250 gallon tank and pump. It has drafting capabilities to draw water from ponds or creeks.

Bodie Dominquez will perform at the ball. Fire fighters will be selling tickets downtown at the Post Office on Saturday. In addition, those who would like to participate may contact any members of the department, stop by Valley Motor Parts or make their $5 donation for a ticket at the door.

Proceeds will be used to purchase additional safety equipment.
