Serious house fire averted

What could have been a very serious fire was averted Thursday evening when the homeowner at Space C-15 of Hidden Village Mobile Home Park was able to unplug and flip the circuit breakers on their electric furnace, according to Orofino Fire Chief Mike Lee.

OFD was called to the residence with the report of a house fire. Fortunately, damage was contained in the electric furnace. They pulled the fuses in the furnace.

In addition to OFD, Orofino Police Department, Clearwater County Sheriff's Department and Clearwater County Ambulance Service assisted at the scene. Sunnyside Rural Fire Department was enroute but returned to station when the fire situation was assessed.

Lee reminds residents that this is the time of year that they need to be sure that chimneys and electric furnaces need to be cleaned and inspected professionally. Good maintenance prevents fires
