Training needs focus of employer seminar

Clearwater Business Committee will present "Meeting Employment Training Needs of the Local Community" Feb. 23 from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m.

This is a Clearwater Business Committee Employer Seminar which highlights "Employer Mentoring/Coaching", "Workforce Investment Act" and "Workforce Development Training Fund".

Participants will learn more about:

  • How the Workforce Development Training Fund can help eligible Idaho Companies with job skill training for new employees of companies expanding in Idaho and skill upgrade training of current workers who are at risk of being permanently laid off to prevent that lay off.
  • The Workforce Investment Act (WIA) was designed to assist business in finding skilled workers and to enhance access to other important workforce services. The act provides opportunities for businesses to participate in training eligible youth and adults and connections to those who have received training from approved education and training providers. Services can include: On-the-Job training, Internships/Work Experiences, Lay-off Assistance and limited benefits to employees.

  • What are my responsibilities as an employer?
  • Are there resources available for employees to obtain needed training?
  • Are there resources available for expansion and employee training?

The seminar will be held at the Orofino High School Cafeteria. Cost is $5 which includes dinner by the ManiYACs.
