C-PTPA responds to lightning fire

Clearwater-Potlatch Timber Protective Association (C-PTPA) responded to a holdover fire that was found today, according to Chief Fire Warden Howard Weeks.

The East Fork Fire was sparked by lightning from the storm system that moved through the area Thursday. The 1/2 acre fire is the 107th fire C-PTPA has been called to this fire season. The fire is located six miles north of Elk River is under control. Ray Reel with Hillcrest Aircraft Company was doing helicopter water drops and Johnny Stewart in his fixed wing, Sky Eye, was working as an aerial observer. There is also one helitak crew, one engine crew and one D-5 dozer on the fire, Weeks said.

Mop up is continuing on the 34-acre Jericho Mountain Fire which is burning six miles south of Elk River, he said.
