Fire crews continue work on blazes Fire crews continue to work on several blazes on the Clearwater National Forest. Black Canyon Face Fire in the North Fork Ranger District is part of the Long Black Complex located 38 miles northeast of Pierce. It is approximately 320 acres. Fire staff is continuing to monitor the fire because it is too dangerous for fire fighters to staff at this time due to steep terrain, abundant snags and limited access. Hoodoo Pass on the Montana side is open at this time. Visitors can contact the Interstate Fire Hotline for current updates on this area: 1-406-822-3933. There are two fires on the Powell Ranger District. Devil's Fire is at 90 acre. It is 13 miles west of Lochsa near the historic Lolo Motorway, FS Road 500, below Devils Chair. A third load of jumpers arrived Sunday and line was built around the perimeter of the fire. Cultural sites along the motorway have been threatened. Cedar Fire is 1-1/2 miles southwest from the Elk Summit Guard Station and campground at Hoodoo Lake. It remains at 120 acres. The fire is creeping and smoldering.
