Bob Hill grant spurs initial OHS '55 gift of $1,950 to Pool Complex; other classes challenged

Some 35 members of the "preeminent" Orofino High School Class of '55 gathered in Orofino last weekend for their 50th Anniversary Golden Jubilee celebration pledged some $500 in unspent reunion funds to the Clearwater Community Complex (swim pool et al).

The family of departed '55 class member Bob Hill immediately pledged to match the contributions of other '55 classmates with a check of $1,000. A number of fellow class members attending the event also chimed in, upping the fund to $1,950 already, reports reunion treasurer Patsy Wright Leonard.

Reunion co-chair Tim Barnett was quick to challenge other OHS classes to do likewise with their own contributions to the proposed Community Complex. "Let's see if these other classes can get behind this effort, too," he observed. "We challenge all comers--all other graduating classes---to do their utmost for this important community project."

Donations to the project, which has IRS 501c3 status as a not for profit agency, should be sent to the Clearwater Community Complex, P.O. Box 629, Orofino ID 83544. Treasurer Steve Clack said he would be glad to keep track of donations by graduating class. Be sure to indicate your class year on your check, made out to Clearwater Community Complex, he noted.

The proposed $4.25M aquatic complex is planned on Vida Ave. a block east of Michigan Ave. and the Elementary School on land donated by Lonnie and Shannon Simpson. To date some $1.25M in funds and gifts-in-kind have been pledged, says Dr. Dennis Harper, board chair for the project.
