Altmiller, an art teacher at Orofino High School and Orofino Junior High, works primarily in pastels and watercolor, but also has ventured into sculpture and pottery. While living in the southwest, she became "intrigued with the spirit of the cliff dwellings and their surroundings. This started my love of working with clay."

Flowers and insects are also powerfully represented in many of her paintings. "This is an impressive work of art," said gallery owner Fran Ciarlo. "Johanne has over 30 art works exhibited in this one show."

Altmiller has exhibited in art shows locally as well as in Montana and Oregon. She is an active member of the Idaho Water Color Society. Idaho Artist Association and the National Art Educators association. The exhibit runs from May 9 until June 12.

An artist's reception will be held at the Flamingo Cafe' and Gallery, Thursday May 12 from 3:30 until 6 p.m. The public is cordially invited to enjoy complementary hors d'ouvres, meet the artist and view the collection of original art.
