Man escapes injury in accident

The driver of a Steve Henderson Logging service truck was not injured in a one-vehicle accident Aug.29 at mile post 4.2, according to a Clearwater County Sheriff's Department report.

Steve Ackerman, a mechanic for the company, was driving the truck down Grangemont Rd. that evening. Due to a recent rain, the roadway was extremely slick. While negotiating a right hand curve, the truck started to slide and went across the center line and struck the concrete guardrail. The vehicle continued to slide 57 feet before coming to a stop just prior to going over the embankment, the report said.

The vehicle was towed by Forrest Wrecking of Lewiston. There was approximately $2,500 in damage to the truck and guardrail, according to CCSO.
