Rain contributes to accidents

Rain slick roads contributed to two accidents on Grangemont Rd. and presented challenges to other drivers Sept. 19.

An injury accident occurred near mile marker 4.6 about 10 a.m., according to Clearwater County Sheriff's Department.

Elnora Dixine Rice, 77, Orofino was driving east when her vehicle began to slide. She overcorrected and the vehicle slid off the road on the right side. Rice was thrown from the vehicle and injured. A passenger, Carlene Norris, was able to get out of the vehicle and walk to the road, she told CCSO officers.

Rice was brought up to the roadway by emergency personnel and Clearwater Ambulance Service transported both the driver and passenger to Clearwater Valley Hospital.

The CCSO report said that there were no skid marks due to the wet road conditions and bleeding asphalt. The vehicle came to rest approximately 60 feet below the east side of the roadway.

Earlier in the morning a vehicle went off the road at the sweeping curve near mile marker four. No one was injured and no further information was available from CCSO on this accident.
