Man escapes serious injury

A 73-year-old Orofino man escaped serious injury Thursday morning when he was involved in a vehicle vs pedestrian accident in the 300 block of Johnson Ave. in Orofino.

According to Orofino Police Chief Ron Pomerinke, Robert Turney stepped off the curb jaywalking just as Douglas Lee, 58, Orofino pulled backwards to park in front of a business. Turney was hit by the bumper and slipped under the blue Chevrolet pickup Lee was driving.

Clearwater County Ambulance Service transported Turney to Clearwater Valley Hospital. He was complaining of leg pain and had hit his head when he fell. No citations were issued, Pomerinke said.
