A Peck woman and her children narrowly escaped serious injury in a one-vehicle rollover accident Monday afternoon near mile post 38 on U.S. Highway 12, six miles west of the Orofino Bridge, according to Idaho State Police reports.

Judith J. Vonk and her children Aiden, 6, and Mikayla, 18 months, were traveling eastbound on the highway 2000 Ford Ranger 4x4 with king cab. She turned to fix her son's seat belt and lost control of the vehicle. The pickup rolled three times before coming to rest on its top in the eastbound ditch, ISP said.

All three occupants of the vehicle were wearing their seatbelts. They were taken to Clearwater Valley Hospital by Clearwater County Ambulance Service (CCAS) and released that evening.

In addition to ISP and CCAS, Clearwater County Sheriff's Department, Orofino Police Department and Orofino Fire Rescue 3 responded to assist at the scene.
