Three injured in Sunday accident

Three people were injured in a two-vehicle accident Sunday afternoon near mile marker 38 on U.S. Highway 12, according to Idaho State Police reports.

Donna L. Loughran, 59, Kooskia, was driving a 1995 Geo Metro eastbound with two passengers, Chad Loughran and Frank Loughran. She fell asleep and the vehicle drifted into the westbound lane. Frank J. Desroches, 26, Moscow, was westbound in a 1990 Nissan 300. He tried to avoid a collision and drove into the eastbound lane. The Geo sideswiped the guardrail and struck the Nissan on the right rear side, according to the report.

Desroches was not injured. All three of those in the Geo were taken to Clearwater Valley Hospital by Clearwater County Ambulance Service. All of those involved in the accident were wearing seatbelts, the report said.

Loughran was cited for inattentive driving. The investigation is still pending, the report said.
