IPUL plans conference March 9-11

Idaho Parent Unlimited invites families of children with a disability and professionals to their conference March 9-11 in Boise.

"Twenty Years of Weaving lives Together" is the theme of conference which will celebrate 20 years as a non-profit organization serving Idaho families that have a child with a disability. In addition to workshops and presentations the conference will give parents an opportunity to network with other parents and professionals.

March 9, there will be pre-conference Spanish Speaking sessions from 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Presenters will include Maria Andrade, a Boise lawyer. She will speak on immigration laws that affect parents of children with disabilities, as well as special considerations for people with disabilities. Cecilia Mercado from the Festiva Educativa will present an inspirational message to teach parents how to keep high self-esteem and help plan the future for their children. Kathy Griffin of United Cerebral Palsy will speak about useful tools to help learning and play.

From 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. March 10, there will be workshops and presentations. There will be a wide variety of topics concerning disability issues. There are special topics for technology to Medicaid, families new to disabilities and families with young children.

From 4:30-5:30 p.m. a Membership Special meeting will be held. The agenda will include consideration of amendments to the group's mission statement. From 5:30-8:30 p.m. There will be an evening reception, IPUL annual awards and a silent auction.

March 11 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. presentations and workshops will continue.
