US 12 near Greer fully reopen Thursday night

GREER - U.S. Highway 12 west of Greer was fully reopened at 8 p.m. Thursday night after fire activity from the Mile Marker 50 Fire prompted closures and pilot car operations through the area, according to Idaho Transportation Department.

The Mile Marker 50 Fire remains approximately 7 acres, although accurate mapping is challenging due to the steep, rugged terrain.

Firefighters conducted a small burnout operation overnight Wednesday, and there was little fire activity Thursday morning. Crews have secured the fire perimeter and are now focused on mop up operations.

At the end of Thursday's shift, one hand crew and one engine will remain assigned to the fire, reported Idaho Department of Lands.

Travelers should continue to slow down and watch for crews, emergency personnel and equipment along the highway.
