Child dies in fire near Weippe early Monday

A six-year-old child died in a residential fire near Weippe early Monday morning, according to Clearwater County Sheriff's Office.

Clearwater County Sheriff's Office, Timberline Rescue, Weippe Fire Department, and Pierce Fire Department. Responded to a fire in a residence on Rock Pit Rd. near Weippe about 3:13 Monday morning.

The single-wide trailer was fully engulfed upon the arrival of First Responders. It was reported that four occupants, two adults and two children were inside the residence when the fire was discovered. Three of the occupants were able to get out of the residence. The fourth, a six-year-old child was unable to escape and was later found deceased by firefighters, CCSO reported.

Clearwater County Sheriff's Office and the State Fire Marshals are investigating the cause of fire. The investigation is ongoing.
