Republican Central Committee announces recommendations for Sheriff appointment

Clearwater County Republican Central Committee (CCRCC) has formally submitted three nominees to the Clearwater County Commissioners for consideration in filling the vacancy created by the retirement of Clearwater County Sheriff Chris Goetz.

An election to determine the Committee's recommendations was conducted during the Clearwater County Republican Central Committee's regular monthly meeting held on June 10.

Following that process, the Clearwater County Republican Central Committee respectfully submitted the following nominees to the Commissioners, listed in order of recommendation:

1. John Smith
2. Matthew Gifford
3. Gian Tozzini

The Committee has requested that the Board appoint an interim Sheriff effective July 1, from among these nominees.

Goetz's final day in office will be June 30. In accordance with Idaho Code § 59-906, the Clearwater County Republican Central Committee is responsible for providing the County Commissioners with the names of three qualified individuals affiliated with the Republican Party to be considered for appointment to complete the remainder of the current term.

"We also thank the Board of County Commissioners for their careful consideration of these recommendations and for their continued service to our community."
