Old Greer Fire remains at 75 acres with help of aviation resources GREER - The Old Greer fire remains at 75 acres total, despite increased fire behavior Friday afternoon. Aviation resources, including four water scoopers and a heavy helicopter, were used to abate the fire activity. Firefighters were able to keep the fire within containment lines Friday. Dozers are on scene and continue to improve the containment lines, and a night shift will be in place again Friday night. Old Greer Grade remains closed due to fire activity. There are no evacuations, however 5 structures remain threatened. There are 50 fire personnel engaged in the fire, with 6 engines, 3 dozers, 3 water tenders, with 4 additional crews expected on scene Saturday. The Idaho Department of Lands (IDL), together with the U.S. Forest Service, the Nez Perce Tribe, and the Clearwater-Potlatch Timber Protective Association continue to work through steep, rugged terrain to construct containment lines, slow fire spread, and provide structure protection. The Old Greer Fire is across the river from Greer, in Lewis County at approximately 46.380833, -116.188. The fire was reported Thursday June 25, at about 8:30 p.m. This cause of the fire is under investigation, as IDL investigates all fires in their districts.
