National Weather Service issues Heat Advisory for from Saturday noon to midnight National Weather Service-Missoula has issued a Heat Advisory for the Orofino/Grangeville Region, as well as the Lower Hells Canyon/Salmon River Region from noon through midnight Saturday. This level of heat affects most individuals sensitive to heat, especially those without effective cooling and/or adequate hydration. Impacts possible in some health systems and in heat-sensitive industries. Early-season high temperatures expected to reach 90 to 102 degrees. Be mindful that rivers and streams continue to flow cold, high, and fast with murky waters potentially obscuring underwater hazards. Precautionary/Preparedness Actions Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors. Orofino, elevation 1,039 feet above sea level Saturday: Sunny and hot, with a high near 97. Light and variable wind becoming southwest 12 to 17 miles per hour in the afternoon. Winds could gust as high as 24 mph. |
