Heat Advisory, Air Quality Advisory issued for area National Weather Service-Missoula has issued a Heat Advisory for the Orofino/Grangeville Region and the Lower Hells Canyon/Salmon River Region from Monday noon through Tuesday at 9 p.m. and the Nez Perce Tribe has issued an Air Quality Advisory for their reservation through Tuesday at 10 a.m. Orofino is forecast to have a high temperature of 104 Monday, 105 Tuesday, 103 Wednesday and 102 Thursday. NWS-Missoula said the level of heat affects anyone without effective cooling and/or adequate hydration. Impacts are likely in some health systems, heat-sensitive industries and infrastructure. Precautionary/Preparedness actions Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors. Air Quality Alert The Air Quality Advisory is due to smoke from wildfires. The Air Quality Index is expected to range from Moderate to Unhealthy for Sensitive Groups. The advisory is in effect until 10 a.m. on Tuesday. The air quality will particularly impact those who experience health effects from smoke include children under 18, elders, pregnant women, people with asthma or have difficulty breathing, diabetes, heart problems or otherwise compromised health, and people who have high exposure (those who work, exercise, or spend extensive time outdoors).
