CCSO arrests man on charges of rape of a female under 16, possession of meth

Wednesday, Clearwater County Sheriff's Office arrested a 27-year-old man from Weippe on charges of rape of a female under 16-years old and possession of methamphetamine, according to Sheriff Chris Goetz.

On Tuesday at about 6 p.m., the Clearwater County Sheriff's Office received a report of a possible sexual offense that occurred on Sunday near Weippe. The reporter was the father of an underage female. Deputies responded, took an initial statement and collected evidence. Additional interviews were done on Wednesday and at 4 p.m. Zachary Smith, 27, Weippe, was arrested and charged with rape of a female under 16 years old and possession of methamphetamine, Goetz said.

The investigation is on-going and the Sheriff's Office believes that there may be additional victims, the news release said.
