National Weather Service issues Winter Storm Warning for Clearwater County National Weather Service-Missoula has issued a Winter Storm Warning for the Orofino/Grangeville Region, as well as the Northern Clearwater Mountains that will remain in effect until 4 a.m. Friday. Southern Clearwater Mountains Heavy snow is forecast with accumulations between 3 and 5 inches and winds gusting as high as 45 miles per hour. Areas of particular note are Idaho Highway 11 Pierce to Headquarters, Pierce and Elk River. Plan on slippery road conditions. Areas of blowing snow that could significantly reduce visibility. The hazardous conditions could impact the Thursday evening commute. Gusty winds could bring down tree branches. Those who must travel are advised to, keep an extra flashlight, food, and water in the vehicle in case of an emergency. The latest road conditions can be obtained by calling 5 1 1. West wind 8 to 13 mph becoming light and variable. Little or no snow accumulation expected. Orofino/Grangeville region Heavy snow with additional snow accumulations between 3 and 5 inches. Winds gusting as high as 40 mph. Areas of particular note are: Greer Grade, Camas Prairie and Grangeville and vicinity. Orofino, elevation 1,039 feet Tonight, snow, mainly before 11 p.m. Low around 6. North northwest wind 7 to 14 mph, with gusts as high as 24 mph. Chance of precipitation is 90%.
