Fire damages cattle truck trailer

Fire damaged a loaded cattle trailer being pulled by a semi-truck Saturday afternoon on U.S. Highway 12 in front of Hidden Village RV Park (formerly Canoe Camp RV Park).

Fortunately, the cattle were not injured, according to Orofino Assistant Fire Chief Josh Pospychalla. He said the fire was caused by a blown tire on the trailer that left burning rubber a few places on the highway for about a half mile. The trailer and burning rubber were quickly extinguish, mostly before firefighters arrived. They used their thermal imaging camera to be sure that the temperature in the area of the fire was going down.

Traffic was partially delayed for a time. The truck was in the right-hand eastbound lane and no structures were threatened. The trailer's brakes and tire needed work before it could be moved.

Besides OFD, Clearwater County Sheriff's Office, Orofino Police Department and Clearwater County Ambulance Service responded to the scene.
